Core Vocabulary
Core Book Vocabulary.
A child’s core language acquisition occurs between one and four years old, with children acquiring basic phonology, syntax, and vocabulary during this period. Success in literacy relies on the secure development of language.
Why are we sharing this vocabulary with you because of the following:
• Children need to hear or read a word many times
• They need opportunities to link new knowledge to what they already know
We foster well-developed word-learning abilities through repeated exposure, Research indicates that a child needs 12 instructional encounters to fully know the word.
More information can be found in our Vocabulary Policy.
